The conference was themed around “Changing the face of Indian manufacturing industries,” and was inaugurated by Sujata Tilak, President, ISA Pune Section; Shishir Joshipura, MD, SKF India & President, CII Pune Zone and Prasann Chobey, Head— Manufacturing Operations, CVBU, Tata Motors.

ISA Pune section was a part of the recently held conference on Automation & Robotics at Pune. The conference was held alongside the exhibition, Automation & Robotics Expo 2016 that featured major names in the global automation industry.

The conference was themed around “Changing the face of Indian manufacturing industries,” and was inaugurated by Sujata Tilak, President, ISA Pune Section; Shishir Joshipura, MD, SKF India & President, CII Pune Zone and Prasann Chobey, Head— Manufacturing Operations, CVBU, Tata Motors.

The conference witnessed the keynote address by Joshipura on “Looking into future: Industry in 2025”, wherein, he addressed the session on disruptive technologies like the driverless cars and highlighted on how automated products can improve productivity. “The four dimensions that necessitate the need for deploying automation include improving productivity, meeting growing demands for consistent quality requirement, growing unprecedented power of cosumers and handling safety issues,” he explained.

Chobey was the chief guest and delivered his address on how automation will become a major part of the business dynamics and discussed the need to embrace automation today. Furthermore, to become future-ready factories, he discussed the major issues faced today, that includes information security, infrastructure for high speed connectivity, up-gradation of existing equipment and the need for skill development.

A panel discussion was hosted on adopting smart manufacturing practices, moderated by Dr Arvind Tilak, CEO, Ascent Intellimation. The panellists included Rajendra Ghaisas, SVP, Sigma Electric; S C Suneja, CEO, JBM MA Automotive and Shirish Kulkarni, Strota Consulting. The conference included presentations from Gudel India, Omron Automation, Rockwell Automation, MESTech and Cognex Sensors India. Attended by well-known automation experts, the one day conference was hosted by the IBK Media.
