Schmalz India recently inaugurated a new building in Pune. With this new extension building, the company is now accomplishing the necessary prerequisites so as to keep an edge in the future. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Wolfgang Schmalz, MD, Schmalz, said, “We have succeeded in not only gaining a foothold here in India, but also building a very successful company. In 1999, there were just about 200 employees in Germany. Therefore, for us, the foundation was significant, but not entirely an easy step. Today, with nearly 18 years of experience in the Indian market, we are capitalising on it because we know the market, our customers and their requirements and we are on site and can respond quickly.”

He also spoke of the reason for Schmalz India’s success and shared, “The driving force of our success over the past few years has been the progressive automation in the industry and the associated need for efficient handling solutions. We market innovative vacuum technology all over India, with our own sales offices in Pune, Delhi and Chennai. At the same time, we manufacture various products on-site, such as vacuum suction pads for automation.”

Also speaking at the ceremony was Andreas Beutel, MD-Production, Schmalz. He said, “I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who made the construction project possible. This includes Philip J Mani, MD, Schmalz India, as well as Volker Bruck, the building team and MPS building planning and Winfried Mayer, General Manager, MPS.” Elaborating further on this cooperation, Sikander Yadu, Design Head & Coordination, MPS Tech Engineering and Consultancy India, said, “It is important to us that construction quality, functionality and profitability are always optimised for our customers.”

Speaking of the exciting opportunities in Pune, Schmalz concluded, “There are exciting developments in Pune around the topic of ‘Smart City’, which we continue to observe with great interest. We are currently developing a new business area for the development and production of energy storage solutions and maybe soon, further starting points for cooperation will also arise in this area.”
