DesignTech Systems recently signed an MoU with J C Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, to develop a Centre of Excellence on Internet of Things (IoT) and Augmented Reality (AR) technology based solutions to enable the students to work with an academic supervisor and industry experts on advanced areas like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), AR and IoT. The MoU was signed by Prof Dinesh Kumar, Vice Chancellor, J C Bose University and Vikas Khanvelkar, MD, DesignTech Systems, in presence of Dr S K Garg, Registrar; Dr Shameem Ahmad; Dr Neelam Turk, Chairperson, Dept of Electronics Engineering; Dr Tilak Raj, Chairperson, Mechanical Engineering; Dr Komal Kumar Bhatia, Chairperson, Dept Computer Engineering; Dr Atul Mishra, dept Computer Application; Rohit Arora, VP, Designtech Systems; Abhishek Shukla, GM, DesignTech Systems and Sudhir Naik and Tushar Ghosh, Experts from PTC. The new centre is being developed under the Department of Electronics Engineering under the supervision of Dr Shameem Ahmad, former Vice Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard University, who is serving the University as adjunct faculty, and Dr S K Aggarwal.
Dr Ahmad apprised that the purpose of this collaboration is to develop a Centre of Excellence to provide industrial experience and facilities to students to enable them to provide solutions of real-time industry problems using AI, ML, AR and IoT. Initially, two state-of-the-art IoT and AR Lab are being set up under this centre.
Speaking on this occasion, Prof Kumar said that AR is an emerging technology with tremendous career opportunities as it will play a significant role in improving productivity, efficiency, and safety, especially in manufacturing sector. He said that the university has a strong legacy of imparting practical-oriented training in specialised field of engineering to meet specific technical manpower requirement of industries since its inception; therefore, through this tie-up, the university is committed to encourage research and promote innovation by providing ultramodern and state-of-the-art facilities and training under the aegis of this centre. This partnership reflects the key goal for the university, which is to work closely with industry to develop the curriculum and ensure that graduates are job ready when they leave the university, he added.
Expressing his views, Khanvelkar cited, “It is a great initiative from J C Bose University to create a set up to train the students in emerging technologies like Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and AR. This will help industry to get trained manpower in these areas, which at present is difficult to find. DesignTech is proud and happy to be associated with this unique initiative by J C Bose University. We have over 21 years of experience in helping industries and educational institutions adopt the benefits of latest technologies. We are committed to support J C Bose University to make this initiative successful.” Also, along with the set-up of IIoT and AR lab, the students would get access to PTC University’s award-winning Precision Learning Management System.
