SMART MANUFACTURING C4i4 celebrates foundation day

C4i4 Lab recently celebrated its foundation day in Pune. In his welcome speech, Dattatraya Navalgundkar, Director, C4i4 Lab, said, “The lab allows us to share thoughts on the work that we are into. We have recently started some pilot projects and also inaugurated a demo centre.

Sharing his views, Rahul Kirloskar, Kirloskar Group, cited, “C4i4 is a platform for industries and academia, where we should come together and teach each other.” Contributing his ideas, Rene Van Berkel, UNIDO India Representative, expressed, “There is a growing interest on how Industry 4.0 and Smart Manufacturing can help the industry to solve major challenges that are being faced in the 21st century.”
Also expressing his thoughts, Raju Ketkale, Senior VP & Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motors, asserted, “Globalisation of electrification can be exemplified by the fact that our company will be selling around 5 million EVs by 2030.”

Common platform

Witnessing his participation, Sanjay Chavre, Senior Development Officer, Department of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Government of India, stated, “The Department of Science & Technology is going to come up with a program that addresses Industry 4.0 consultancy. Also, we can have a common platform to address our common concerns. Plus, we are trying to create a body of elder mentors to guide on Industry 4.0 in India.”

Further sharing his ideas was Rahul Mishra, Principal, AT Kearney, who said, “Some of the various capabilities emerging in the market are the ability to collect richer information, the ability to convert the collected information into a meaningful decision and moving setups from physical to digital. For this purpose, organisations need to develop a character to drive digitalisation.”

From information to insights

Also discussing his approach was Yogesh Kulkarni, COO & Co-Founder, Altizon Systems, who said, “Our approach towards the customers is a journey from information to insights. This helps the company to achieve maximum benefits.” Educating people with his ideas, Yogesh Deshpande, Director, VIT and Education Partner of C4i4, asserted, “VIT is planning to venture into a research program that will focus on Industry 4.0.”

The panel discussion on ‘Starting the Industry 4.0 journey’ was moderated by Shripad Ranade, Ikigai Discoveries and the panellists were Uma Nidmarty, Kalzoom Advisors; Dr R Venkateswaran, Senior VP, Persistent Systems and Dr Ravi M Damodaran, CTO, Greaves Cottons. The panellists discussed the implementation challenges in Industry 4.0 and explained how the data is being wasted as no proper feedback is being gained and delivered. Hence, the data knowledge and security are equally important for the betterment of the industry. The celebration concluded with the final address delivered by Vikram Salunkhe, MD, Accurate.
